Ney Flute

Ney has existed for more than 4,000 years and is believed to be one of the oldest musical instruments still being played. It is typically made of reed plant and is widely used in the Sufi mystical music, as its sound evokes the feeling of eternity.

What will you get in this course?

  • Go through the theoretical background of the Ney
  • Getting to know how to hold the Ney correctly and how to get a sound out of it, which is usually the most difficult part for the first few lessons
  • Understanding and playing different makams such as Pesrev and Saz Semai, playing the Taksim forms.
  • After this, we move on to notes and musical pieces
