A day full of ebru, calligraphy and more

W

e can look back on yet another very successful day...

On Saturday 15 February we had an open day at our artstudio. The visitors had the opportunity to follow a workshop of different artforms like paper marbling, Arabic and Chinese calligraphy, encaustic art, illumination art and miniature art. Besides, they could get acquainted with the course ‘’art and architecture in Islam’’.

The visitors were surprised by a live musical performance with the Ney (type of flute) and Ud (string instrument that is widely used in the Middle East). The two musicians, Cengiz Arslanpay and Mohamad Denno, played Ottoman music from the 16th to the 20th century. And Sipko Alexander Den Boer gave a talk about calligraphy and the Masnavi of Rumi.

If you also would like to experience these fascinating art forms, have a look at our courses and workshops.
